My name is Kelly Ann Schottler and I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember.

 

I grew up in Prairie Village, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, and moved to Rochester when I was 18 to attend Rochester Institute of Technology. Although I majored in advertising photography, my true love was always photojournalism. I graduated in 2003 with honors and began shooting a variety of subjects on my own. Today I still live in Rochester with my dog Rosie. I photograph a great deal of weddings, pets, and kids, and also really enjoy travel photography when I'm able to do it.

 
I shoot in a photojournalistic style because I prefer to be sort of a fly on the wall. It's great to catch people in their true form, with real expressions, rather than do a lot of posing. For me, photographs that take a lot of time to put together are never quite as good as the scenes that I just come across.
